[rs=2] | "Wacko Family." they say. They make fun of us. We are different. So what. Our names mean somethin'g big. Haven't ya heard? Scamander. Perhaps if you ever opened a book you may have heard of a little someone named Newt. My great-grandfather. He wrote a book. No little book either. Magical Beasts and where to find them. Maybe you have heard of it? Oh, you haven't? Maybe get your head out of the ground and go for a walk. It clears my sinuses. I just walk. Especially in a storm. Lightning facinates me. But not more than animals. It runs in the family, on my Dad's side. The Scamanders, as you may know, have a reputation to grow up to be magizoologists. Big word, hey? It means someone who studies magical creatures. They also tend to excel in Herbology. I love those classes. Study of Magical Creatures and Herbology. Simple stuff. Animals and plants. My father also thought so. He is a magizoologist too. He specializes in small creatures. Him and Mum always argue about the existence of creatures like Nargles. Practically, they don't exist, but I like to think they do. They spice up the boring world, ya know? You can pretend when you're bored in class, so see a Crumple-Horned Snorkack dancing across your parchment. Mum is a magizoologist too, but they call her a Magical Naturalist over that, since she mainly fights higher-ranking magizoologists on what creatures exist and what don't. She spent most of her after school life travelling the world in search for animals of questionable reality. On the topic of Mum. Ever heard of Harry Potter? Of course you have. Well, he's my Mum. Just kidding. Mum was one of his good friends, other than Hermione and Ron, who later got rowdy and had a weddin'. Luna Lovegood. Know the name? She's my mum. In the flesh. She met Dad, Rolf Scamander, while travelling Europe, studying animals. It was in a Tiny Village in Wales where she was looking for some animal. She was sitting in a mud puddle, staring at her hand when Dad asked her if she was alright. And So from there, they just fell in love, and had me and my twin, Lorcan. People tell me I look like a carbon-copy of Mum. I can see it. They say "Just like your lovely Mum, eh?" Yeah. Thanks. The only minor difference is that I'm a male, but what difference does it make? We both have bleach-blonde hair. I wear mine shorter than her's for obvious reasons. But its the same colour and thickness, and it acts the same, it wants to look scraggly. Curly, almost wavy. I wear mine hanging above my eyes. My eyes are a blue beyond blue. Like a summer's day horizon blue. Where the sky starts to fade from darker blue to a lighter blue? Yeah, that blue right before you can see the land again. I'm a tad gangily, but what do you expect from a teenager? I tend to use sarcasm all too often. I enjoy it. I secretly get to say what I want without actually offending them, but at the same time, feel like I'm being humorous. Its easy to use. But I greatly dislike people who can't pick it up. They say, "Are you serious?" or they just don't get it. Drives me up the wall. Intelligence is key to me. I dislike people who lack it. Heads full of dragon dung. Ask me another question, eh, I dare you. Ask me about my Mum, or Lorcan. Mad people don't bother me, I grew up with them. Stupid people bother me. I probably look mad, don't I? With my eyes, and a tongue-twister for a name. I got a feeling that is wasn't dad who named me Lysander Scamander Thanks Looney. I love you. My childhood consisted of mainly reading, and looking at animals. Mum and Dad would take Lorcan and I on trips to see different creatures. I once saw a dragon in Romania. It was from a few miles away, and it was flying, but it was so amazing, I went through a faze of dragons. I read all about them. I have read about everything now that I think about it. I'm like an encyclopedia of magical beasts. I like Quidditch. I supposed I'm alright at it. It's the feeling of flying I enjoy. Zooming around like an owl. I can get over it. I play chaser, since I'm not strong enough for beater, or small enough for seeker. I can throw OK, so it works for me. Besides, being a chaser takes quick decisions for maneuvering and scoring. The key is logic. I got a bit of it, I'd say. I'm a pretty quick thinker. "Wit beyond measure is a man's greatest treasure." You could be the bravest guy alive, but still die because you made the wrong decision. Even ambition or kindness is useless without think a little. I am a Ravenclaw after all. Aren't we famed for our brains? I get good grades. I am in Fifth year. OWLS. Yay. I'm going to ace them, I know it. Is it wrong to be excited for them? I know all the Weasleys. Some better than others, but they are friends with Mum so we see them at events, and at school. I know the Potters well too. Same with Various students, mostly from the name Scamander, or Mum, makes me seem pretty approachable. |
