[rs=2] | This young woman is Vienna, or V for short. Currently she's at the beginning of her seventh year at Hogwarts, in the house of Rowena Ravenclaw. She's never been a prefect, tried out for the quidditch team or anything of the sort. Vienna's what you would call 'shy' or 'socially awkward/anxious' and has been that way since arriving at school. Hogwarts is an intimidating place, full of intimidating people so it was only natural that she retreated into her shell upon arriving; outcasting herself. Vienna's mother, Lisette, died during childbirth as she was already ill so was too weak to survive the ordeal. While it's a sad thing, it could be worse because it's not as if the witch ever knew her mother. She knows that she was a pureblooded and had a lot of money because she came from an old, rich family. The money was left for Vienna, and most of it remains safely locked away in her vault at Gringotts. After her mother's death, Vienna saw none of her maternal family and lived with her father and saw a lot of his relatives. They were all muggles, but her father was clearly aware of magic since he'd been married to a witch before. He married a fellow muggle when Vienna was four years old. Her step-mother was named Faye and V neither liked nor disliked her. They got along when they were forced to interact, but otherwise avoided each other. Two years later, her half-sister Flora was born. While her parents were giving all their attention to their child, Vienna spent more time alone. She started up some new hobbies - such as running, climbing, swimming and long walks. At first these activities could only be carried out in the garden or the nearby park but as she grew older she was allowed more freedom. There was always a terrible pang of loneliness in her chest. Every time she went downstairs and saw her father playing with Flora she couldn't help but wish she was little again so that could be her instead. The thing with Vienna was that she disliked company, but didn't wish to always be alone. The blonde began to think she was going crazy when she first started switching off the light at night using only the power of her mind. Sometimes she could open and close her cupboard door or her curtains too. She didn't tell anyone; she was scared that she'd be sent off to some mental institution by Faye and her husband Scott - because, yes, he was now more just Faye's husband than Vienna's dad. Back then, she wasn't aware of that she was a half-blood witch. During the summer holidays, only a couple of months after her tenth birthday on the 2nd of June, Vienna's half-brother was born and named Rhys. She refused to go to the hospital for his birth and was left at home instead, by herself. It was nice to enjoy some silence in their crowded home for once. A letter was delivered to directly to her too, which made her even happier. Someone cared enough to write to her? Was it some relative offering to whisk her away from this dreadful dump? Almost. She didn't believe what the letter was saying at first. She'd been accepted into a school of 'Witchcraft and Wizardry'. The more she thought about it, the more it made sense. She wrote out a reply and left it on her father's bed for him to see. When he got home, leaving the rest of the family in the hospital, he saw it while going to the bedroom to collect up some belongings and bring them to his wife and their children who were still in hospital. He was distracted by the letter though. Once he'd read it, he found Vienna sitting quietly in her room, staring at the wall blankly, obviously deep in thought. They had a discussion longer than any sort of one they'd had before. Vienna learnt that her mother had been a witch so it was no surprise that she was too - and this was definitely true. Something clicked then, Vienna felt a little more attached to her father but she was sure it wouldn't last long. And it didn't. She had to go to Diagon Alley by herself, she had to take a taxi by herself to Kings Cross Station and worriedly find the right platform. It was terrifying for a socially anxious eleven year old but she made it to school, leaving behind her 'family'. Throughout her years at Hogwarts, instead of growing in confidence and making new friends, progressing up the social ladder, she practically did the opposite. Vienna was independent. She focused on her studies, thought for herself and carried on with her hobbies. Fashion became one of them too. She learnt that she was going to wear whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted, regardless of what people thought of her. Vienna continued running and swimming a lot and played quidditch by herself a few times with great success. However, she never tried out for the team as she was too afraid. She didn't let herself be influenced by what others did. There are a select, few people that V gets along with. And if you're not her friend, then it's safe to say she views you as an irritating waste of space. Often she refrains from talking to others but is quietly rude when she has too. She knows it's something she has too work on since she'd like to be a healer after finishing school and that involves having to speak with others. Or maybe she'll find another direction to send her career in? Who knows? |
