[rs=2] | Where would you like me to start? The beginning? Well that’s too far back, and much too boring. My mother died when I was a child. She was quite an extraordinary witch, but she did like to experiment...and one day, one of her spells went badly wrong. I was nine. I find comfort in her death, knowing that eventually I will see her again. I grew up with my father afterwards, a wizard by the name of Xenophilius. He was the editor of The Quibbler up until about fifteen years ago or so. Since then, he has now passed but he will forever live on in my family’s hearts. Enough of the dwelling and sadness! I was born Luna Elizabeth Lovegood, September fourth, 1981. I was married in 2002, at the ripe age of twenty-one to a wonderful man named Rolf Scamander. If you haven’t heard of the name, then you’re certainly daft. You’ve read his grandfather’s book, your children have, and possibly even your grandchildren have read it, whatever your age may be. People tell me that I’m famous, though I like to think I just did my part. I don’t care much to talk about those days. I don’t like to dwell on the past. Much has changed in my life since my youth. I’ve traveled the world many times, and I’ve achieved my dream of proving the existence of some creatures! My peers always called me Loony Lovegood, but I tried to tell everyone they’re real! I’m still searching for nargles, wrackspurts, and crumple-horned snorkacks though. I decided to make a career out of my interest in magical beasts. Shortly after graduation, Rolf and I met up and began traveling. He was the only fitting companion, and that proved to be true after we were married! I’m a magizoologist now because of that man. In fact, we both are! I am the professor of Care of Magical Beasts at Hogwarts, which in school was one of the subjects I excelled in. After my proving numerous species, I figured it was only real. I encourage my students to never stop believing in what you believe in. Wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure I always say. I have two children, twins in fact. Lysander and Lorcan. They’re both boys, and fifteen years of age. Sorted into different houses, which I found interesting. Not odd at all, just interesting. I don’t find anything odd anymore. It’s sort of hard to surprise me, especially these days. I would say that I’m pretty understanding. That would explain my wand! After I was taken hostage by those Death Eaters many years back, and they snapped my wand, well Mr. Garrick Ollivander made me a new one. Ash, with a bowtruckle core. It’s thirteen and a half inches long, and quite flexible. That man knows wands. He amazes me. I believe the reason he made my wand specifically for me, at no charge, was because I was some sort of beacon of hope for him. I have that effect on people I think often. At least that’s what my husband says. I’m still as Loony as I’ll ever be, if not even more Loony. I’ve come to embrace the title, and actually introduce myself to my students as Professor Loony, though by their third years, they should already know who I am. I enjoy taking my classes on fieldtrips. I don’t get to show many of them the thestrals though, which is quite saddening. Extraordinary creatures they are. Not many students these days have experienced death like my class had. My class was full of heartache, which remains with Dumbledore’s Army to this day. In passing, there’s always this melancholy hanging over us, yet an extreme understanding that only we all have with each other. That’s something that will never go away. Once you’ve fought side-by-side with someone, you always have those memories together. |
