In a nutshell, he's boring. At least, that's what he tells people so they'll leave him alone. His aunt always called him an "old soul" but he likes to think of himself as more of an antisocial bookworm. He's never had any close friends and chooses to spend his time reading or working on homework. He's not an overachiever by choice; he rarely speaks up voluntarily in class, sometimes has trouble meeting deadlines for assignments, and quite honestly couldn't care less about his grades. He doesn't like the concept of schooling itself, but he likes to learn. He does the extra recommended reading out of curiosity, and his homework out of boredom if there's nothing else to captivate him. His feelings towards other students revolve around discomfort and unease, but rather than shuffle along awkwardly in a painful attempt at socialization he opts instead for a superior and cold attitude. In his opinion, it's the easiest way to get rid of unwelcome attention. friends I do really want Darren to find at least one person that he can begin to count on as a close friend. He's a seventh year and knows all of the other seventh years by association, but I can't see him taking any interest in those younger than him; if he wasn't forced to spend time with them in class or the dormitory, he wouldn't notice them. A seventh year could work, if there's something to make him see them as something other than a classmate whose name he recognizes, but a sixth year or younger would be interesting for him; someone completely new. I have no real restrictions here, though. I can see something interesting happening with anyone he could befriend. romance Love life? Darren? Surely you jest. Okay so mainly he doesn't have a romantic history because I haven't decided whether or not he's gay yet, meaning he hasn't taken an interest in either gender. Maybe it's just because I'm in love with the playby but I like to imagine that he's had his fair share of offers over the years, but he's either too disinterested to notice or just hasn't cared. I'm eager to explore this, though, so if anyone has the hots for him...insert eyebrow waggle here. This could be fun. enemies Being the nerd that he is, naturally there are going to be some people who are going to try to make his life hell. He'd keep up his cold and dismissive attitude, but he'd be the type to stew in inner turmoil about getting picked on. Again, I'm always eager to explore any aspect of character development, so I'll agree to just about anything. Free reign is yours, my friends, and I am but a mere puppet. But seriously. I'm open to ideas. |
