She could have easily been mistaken for and of the Weasleys or even the Potters. It didn't bother her much, she loves the attention she received on a regular basis. Today she just wanted to get away from it all. She wanted to find herself anew, even if that meant going to where she was not permitted and just sit in silence. Xyla stumbled across the lush snow, letting her feet lead the way. She wasn't sure as to where she was going until bright blue eyes looked up at the sky. She was being led to the Black Lake. It was one of her favorite places, among others. A place where she could sit in solitude, relax, catch up on a painting or two. Today, however, she did not bring any of her paintings, today... She sighed. Today was a day to sit, relax and watch the giant squid dance with the gentle waves the breeze was creating along the horizon.
It would be dark in a few hours, this gave the Hufflepuff enough time to do what she needed. A smile graced her features as she approached a very familiar rock. Through the heavy set trees and the thinned bushes, a large round rock sat overlooking the waters. A small grin could be seen upon Xyla's lips as she approached her usual spot. There was nothing like having one spot all to yourself. The witch looked around for a few moments, making sure that she was indeed alone before she jumped atop the large piece of earth. Xyla's nose tingled at the smells emitting from the shores before her. The grin grew larger, into a full smile now. There was always something calming about the lake. She wasn't sure if it was the smells, the sounds or the sights that drew her into herself, or if it was all of those factors combined. Nonetheless, Xyla sat on her perch, content with herself. The winter air was chilled, but not so much as to freeze her or the entire lake. The young female's braids stayed motionless.
Ocean colored eyes shut, another breeze flowing past. Inhale, exhale. She brought her knees close to her chest and wrapped her lanky arms around them, squeezing them tight. She let her guard down, immersing herself in her thoughts. Where was she to go that day? Would she be brought back to an awful past, or be reunited with the people whom she loved most? That was a question that only she would be able to answer. Xyla pursed her lips, breathing in sharply. The cold air hit her lungs, sending a chill down her spine. There was nothing Xyla loved more than the winter time. There was just something so peaceful about it. Perhaps it was the fact that there weren't any other students out, in fear they might catch a cold. Perhaps it was the fact that everything was silent, dead.
The thoughts raged on. Xy was quite unaware of the two second year students that were creeping up behind her with fists full of snow. If those students knew any better, they would have run the opposite direction after seeing who she was. Unfortunately, that was not the case for these two. Slowly they inched forward, trying to keep their fits of giggles inaudible. One of them raised their arms, preparing to throw it, the other lazy hanging by his side. The second of the two boys had both of his hands at the ready. As soon as they saw Xy exhale deeply, they launched their weapons forward and hit Xyla dead in the head. Her eyes flashed red, her head turning toward the culprits. As soon as they saw the rage and exasperation on her face, they ran for it, leaving Xyla with a mane of hair full of snow and curse words under her breath. It was not the time to be messing around with her.
Xyla hopped off the stone in a huff and began to brush herself off. She was unsure if anyone was watching her, so she kept her curse words low and under her breath. | [atrb=width,140] words ,

Rose didn't know how she found herself at the Black Lake. One minute, she was sure she was walking the halls, cursing the god damn moving stairs that prevented her from visiting the library for the god damn textbook the herbology teacher insisted on her reading even though she had it memorized by heart which was entirely her mother's fault. She could remember fondly Hermione spending all summer last year making her memorize the seventh year textbooks. Who knew? It actually payed off in the end. But with a loving smile and a loss of attention, Rose found her feet pounding across the grassy lawns of Hogwarts to reach the Black Lake. The grass itched beneath her dressed feet as she silently made her way to the lake, the only thing her mind was really concentrating on then, the glittering oval of water. She remembered in her first year when she'd accidentally pushed Scorpius Malfoy into it of which she smiled at the memory of, losing track of her attention once again as she had to catch herself from walking right into the water.
Blinking, Rose shook herself from her reminiscing, backing away from the Giant Squid who was vigorously swimming to meet her at the edge seeing as she was the one closest. As far as Rose was aware, there were no records of the Giant Squid eating students but she was sure if she didn't move, and fast, she'd be on the headlines of the Daily Prophet: Rose Weasley Becomes Breakfast For The Giant Squid. Yeah...Sorry, bud, she thought, her mental notes aimed towards the squid. Not happening. She scrambled away from the edge, making her way up the slight slope until she came upon a sight to behold.
A handful of Slytherins and Gryffindors, spread apart with looks of disdain aimed at the other party, were throwing stones at another Slytherin, judging by the females robes. They were all pelting the young girl viciously and Rose had a half of mind not to hex them into the next century. Letting just two profanities out from under her breath, she hiked up the hill so she could tap on the assaulting students. "Ahem. Let's see...Detention, yes? Meet me in the Study Area first thing tomorrow morning. Detention lasts until Potions, got it?" Rose said, reciting it like a record. What else could she do? She'd said this all day long. Shaking her head, she watched as the boys turned to snarl at her, sneer at the other girl, then take off running. Hah, scared of the Head Girl, eh?
"Are you okay?" Rose called to the other female as she made her slow descent to the girl's perching position on a rock of which she had just leaped off of to curse indistinctly but Rose still heard them. Yet, her lips simply curled into that of a slight smile as she became quickly amused by the girl. Slipping down, she stood, dusted herself off, and turned to face..Xyla.
"Xyla Warrington, correct?" She said, racking her brain for a name that fit the face. As Head Girl, she had high expectations for herself and she'd taken the time to memorize every student of Hogwarts...And failed. But only slightly! She was glad that she was able to match a name to this girl's face and she let a slight triumphant smile sneak it's way to hers.
"I'm really sorry about them, they're just being idiots. I gave them detention and I'm sure you can have fun hexing them when I'm not looking!" Rose chuckled quietly, winking slightly at Xyla since she was sure Xy knew that if she saw her hexing them, she'd have to put her in detention too but seeing as she could not witness it and give the other girl a freebie...Well, it was something Rose rarely did but she did handed freebies out when the victims deserved it. Although, judging by this girl's reputation, she was no victim. Yet, Xyla was also nice so Rose hoped she could engage in friendly conversation with her.
Taking a seat on the grass and feeling the green plants tickling her, she shifted uncomfortably until the feeling dimmed enough for her to feel at ease. Nodding at Xyla, she gave the other girl an encouraging smile as she rubbed her legs almost unconciously.
"Classes don't come back on until an hour so shoot. Tell me something, Anything. Just shoot, I'm going to go insane unless I talk to someone!" It was true, Rose had spent almost all week holed up in the library to study for her Transfiguration test and now she was excited to talk, especially to a Slytherin. Of who, she'd never really known. New knowledge always excited her. She propped her chin on her fists, her elbows resting on her knees as she pulled her legs up to her chest and sat up on her toes.

She was feeling a little embarrassed about the whole situation and frankly, quite angry with those two boys. Where do they get their nerve, she thought to herself. As she brushed herself off, her mane of dark red hair kept getting caught in her face. This made her even more angry. Frustrated, she stomped her foot and threw her gloves to the ground.
"Damned things!" Xyla's voice was loud and angry. A thick, Scottish accent rang through. Exasperated, the Slytherin turned her back from the trees for a moment to recoup herself. She was going to regret something if she didn't calm that temper of hers.
Not hearing any footsteps and being too much in her own little world, Xyla didn't realize that there was another person standing by her. She was too preoccupied with getting herself cleaned off to think about who would be approacing her. All that she wanted was revenge on those twelve year old dorks, and she wanted it now. Her glaring eyes lifted from her wet robes and were met with those of a Weasley. Rose Weasley, head girl to be exact. Xyla knew that she had to be somewhat on her best behavior in order to stay clear of getting a detention like those little gremlins. Xyla cleared her throat and began to speak words.
"Yeah, I'm Xyla. I was going to ask how you knew that, but... Head Girl," she replied with a slight laugh. It almost sounded nervous. She listened more intently as the Gryffindor spoke of her hexing the young boys when she wasn't looking. Xyla's grin grew a lot bigger at this. So, maybe all the Weasles aren't bad after all, she thought to herself. She was always taught not to associate herself with the Weasley clan, but Xyla was growing up. She began figuring things out for herself. She was getting to know people and so far, most of the Weasley and Potter family weren't too bad. If she could get along with James, she was sure she was able to get along with his cousin, Rose.
She watched intently as the young woman sat and rubbed her legs unconsciously. Words escaped her lips, but Xyla wasn't paying too much attention. The snake had zoned out for a few moments, causing her to shake her head and take a seat herself. Girl talk. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad getting to know the person in front of her. Maybe this girl wasn't as bad as she was taught. There was always a story to a person, good or bad and it was always worth knowing the story.
"Tell you something," she said, thinking for a moment. As she did so, she raised an index finger to her chin and tapped it lightly. There really wasn't much to the girl, but she thought about something interesting to tell the Head Girl. She had to be careful with her words, as to not reveal too much. You never knew with those Weasley's, especially those with power. "Well," she began, "I'm a seventh year, I like the color purple, I haven't had a boyfriend since my fifth year, I have an owl named Sadie and I like cupcakes," she finished. She thought that it was a good start, although boring. Sometimes it was the little things that made people moew intrigued. Xyla wanted to test the waters before diving in completely.
"How about yourself? What do you like?" Xyla always loved asking and answering questions. It was always a fun and interesting way to get to know someone. And it was a nice way to not reveal too much, begin the trust tree. She was interested now. The red haired girl sitting in front of her could be a potential friend or a possible enemy. She was just happy that this Weasley girl wasn't judging her solely on the fact that she was in Slytherin house. A lot of her father's friends, himself included, had given Slytherin a bad name. There always seemed to be rivalry and tension between Slytherin and every other house out there. Xyla wanted to show people that you could be a Slytherin who wasn't all bad. There was some good in those lonely snakes, just as there was bad in Gryffindors, unintelligent students in Ravenclaw and outgoing, social bees in Hufflepuff. Things were changing and at a rapid pace. | [atrb=width,140] words ,
