COURSE SYLLABUS AND REGULATIONS

Welcome to Astronomy! This class will be taught by myself, Professor Kiver Lambert. This course is a full Term course which will occur over the next six months. There will be one class taught per month, which gives us a total of six classes. There will be a quiz or homework hand-in at the end of each class. We will be observing one Mid Term (month three) as well as one Final exam (month six). All students preparing for their OWLs or NEWTs shall receive one extra credit assignment per class. Each assignment will have a short answer section as well as a multiple choice section. Each quiz will have one essay question and one hands-on assignment to do.

All assignments and quizzes must be private messaged to me before the due date. Any assignments handed in late will result in docked points and potential failure of this course. You will have three full weeks to complete all assignments as well as the extra credit, if you so wish.

Grades and how they work
The grading system used in my class will follow the standard grading procedures set out by the Ministry of Magic - Education.

Passing Grades
O - Outstanding 90%-100%
E - Exceeds Expectations 80%-89%
A - Acceptable 70%-79%

Failing Grades
P - Poor 60%-69%
D - Dreadful 50%-59%
T - Troll 0%-49%

Each assignment will have a mark on 30. All quizzes will be marked on 40. The Mid-Term will be marked on 50 and will count for 15% of your final mark. The Final Exam will be marked on 100 and will count for a total of 35%

Rules and Regulations for Astronomy Term 1
Attendance - Attendance will be taking at the beginning of every class. You must post in the assignment thread with the appropriate form. If you have not posted your attendance in the first week of the assignment being posted, you will be deemed as absent and will receive a T for that class. Any tardiness to the class will result in a House Point deduction on the spot.

Assignments - All assignments must be handed in via private message. You have three weeks to complete your assignment. Failure to private message your assignment on time will result in a deduction of points and potential failure of the course. There will be a form posted in the assignment thread, please copy and paste this into the private message.[/blockquote]
