[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]you’re haunting me i guess i need you baby. Danica was a nervous wreck. She couldn’t believe she’d agreed to this. Here she was, sitting in a back room of the Three Broomsticks with her guitar in her hand. A recent thing the Broomsticks had started doing was an open mic night. And somehow, Danica’s two best friends had convinced her to go and sing. They were the only two people, aside from her family, who knew she sang. Who knew that it was her one greatest passion and love, aside from Quiditch. Even her family didn’t fully understand her love for it. She could never explain to her father that part of her wanted to give up quiditch to focus on becoming a singer. Her father was Viktor Kurm after all. And while some of his daughters didn’t take to Quiditch at all, Danica and her little sister Boyana were the two who actually took it up and succeeded. Danica had been put on her house team in her first year, almost un heard of. Viktor loved all his daughters, but there was no denying that Boyana was probably he favorite, but Danica was their mother Elena’s favorite. The two of them had bonded early over singing and music. And merlin did Danica wish her mother was with her now. She’d tell her to stop being an idiot and get out there and do what she knew she could. Now Danica Krum was no push over, she wasn’t the type to get nervouse or shy. But this was such a personal thing that she was going to be sharing with a whole bar of people. It was making her uncomfortable for probably the first time she could ever remember. Swallowing she brushed her hair back out of her face. She’s decided to wear just a simple sheer white top with a black vest open over it, matching that with a pair of cut off shorts she thought she managed to look hot, but not like she was trying to hard. Not like she had anyone to impress. The only people she knew out in the crowd were her two best friends who’d been the ones to decide this was such a great idea. With the open mic they’d each get to sing one song. Danica knew which song she was going to sing. There was a muggle singer who sang a song she’d heard about a month after her life had fallen apart and it had summed everything up. Every feeling she was going through after Masen had walked out of her life. The memories of that night still flooded her with so much emotion it was hard to control it. It had been in this very bar that the guy Masen’s parents had paid to break the two of them up had attacked her. He’d started trying to make out with her while she was drunk. Danica had managed to get him off of her, but not before Masen had apparently seen. Or atleast seen a guy kissing her, and not her trying everything in her power to get him off. It still pissed her off and hurt to this day that Masen hadn’t believed her. Not about the fact the hadn’t kissed the guy, not that she’d been trying to get him off of her, and not about the fact it was his parents who had done it. One of Danica’s two best friends knew the Dolohov family well, and had found out they’d been the ones to do it. Crumpling up the sheet music in her anger Danica knew she wouldn’t need it anymore. With all the same emotions flowing through her she knew she’d have no trouble singing the song. As the person ahead of her, who sounded like they were stepping on a bag of cats, finished Danica set her guitar down. She’d only had it with her to sooth her nerves. Walking out on stage as they announced her name Danica tried to smile, even through all the emotions warring inside of her. Sitting down at the piano she took a quick breath as she looked up to the roof, praying for the ability to keep it together through the whole song. Not daring to look out into the crowd she started playing the first notes and began sing ”Notice me... take my hand... why are we, strangers when... our love is strong? Why carry on without me? Every time I try to fly I fall without my wings... I feel so small, I guess I need you baby. Every time I see you in my dreams, I see your face, it’s haunting me. I guess I need you baby.” As those words left her lips she looked out into the crowd and saw the one person she’d never wanted to hear her sing this song. It was almost as if those words were prophetic. As she sang about seeing his face everywhere and being haunted her eyes caught those of the man she was still in love with, Masen Dolohov. Taking another breath to try and steady herself she closed her eyes and kept playing. Her mother had always taught her the show must go on. Keeping her voice steady was the hardest thing she’d ever done. She would not let him see her pain though. Not now, not ever if she could help it. Any time they even talked it lead to nothing but arguments and fights. Pouring herself into the song she kept playing. She knew she was playing to only him now in her mind, it didn’t matter that the place was packed. And she willed herself not to acknowledge the fact he was with another girl. The only time she let her eyes meet his again, briefly, was when she sang, ”my weakness caused you pain, and this songs my sorry!” Tearing her eyes away again she closed them as she played out the instrumental. As the last notes of the song faded out Danica stood and did a little bow as the applause thundered out. It was the first time she’d ever had applause for her singing. Any thoughts of Masen were momentarily wiped from her mind as she stared out over the crowd. Smiling she almost laughed in pleasure as she did another quick bow and went back to the ‘back stage’ area. She’d never felt so alive, not even when she’d won the Quiditch cup. Taking a breathe to try and calm down she thanked the guy running the open mic for his congrats. Laughing as she got back into the room she’d been in she leant against the wall and closed her eyes, a smile playing across her lips as she relived the thrill of being on the stage. words 1,143 | tagged; Masen | done |

With the intention of spending the remaining days of his summer doing as much as possible. He had spent the day at the Quidditch Pitch, watching a game with his brothers. After the game he had promised his friends he would do something with them. That usually meant hitting up a random club and having an all around good time. However, his plans had changed once he had gotten home. With a little time to spare, Masen had decided to work out so that he would be in good shape for his upcoming year at Hogwarts. His final year at Hogwarts. After his work out though he wound up falling asleep, due to the fact that the night before he had been out late and had woken up early that morning to attend the game. What felt like only a few minutes rest had actually been a couple of hours and he had been late to meet his friends. Not that he minded really, he was actually known for being fashionably late. Rising up from his bed, still in his shorts from his work out, he made his way into the bathroom to begin getting ready. Turning on the hot water to the shower, the room slowly filling with steam as he got his stuff ready for his shower. Once he had everything he needed he stripped out of his shorts and adjusted the temperature of the water and then stepped into the shower.
Stepping directly under the spray of water, closing his eyes as the warm water washed away the events of the day. He probably should have showered before falling asleep, given that he had been pretty sweaty. He would just have to make sure whoever was cleaning that evening would replace his sheets. Turning around so the spray hit his back he tipped his head back, doing his best to keep his thoughts focused instead of letting them wander. They always seemed to wander to one person and that one person was someone he didn't want to think about. Running his hand through his wet hair, Masen sighed heavily and begun washing himself. He might not like his thoughts trailing to a particular brunette but truth be told it was hard to get them off her. It irritated him, but honestly it was just a habit he had yet to break. It didn't matter how many girls he had been with since, she always occupied his thoughts. Which was saying something because he was definitely racking up the girls in the past year. Muttering a curse, Masen quickly washed his hair and then rinsed off. Wanting to get this night started with so he could find a female to loose himself in for a few hours at least.
Climbing out of the shower, he grabbed his towel and returned to his room. The house he grew up in was anything but small. It had six rooms, each just as big as the next. All three boys had their own bathroom attached to their room because sharing wasn't something they grew up practising. Along with a bathroom they each had their own walk-in closet that was filled with clothes, some of which still had tags on them and some of which had only been and would only be worn once. Those items Masen made sure to sort to the one side so he wouldn't mistakenly put them on in his sleepy state in the mornings. Facing the side with the clothes that he actually did wear he debated on what he would wear that night. Opting for something a bit more casual considering he was only heading to the Three Broomsticks that night. Grabbing out a pair of black boxer briefs, his black washed jeans, a dark grey tee shirt and his leather jacket, he figured he'd be good to go. Returning to the bathroom with his outfit in his hand he finished getting ready for the night. Shaving, putting on a dash of cologne and putting a bit of gel in his hair, before finally getting dressed. Looking himself over in the mirror once he was done, he smirked knowing tonight was going to be a good night.
Grabbing his wand off his dresser, along with his wallet, Masen left his room and used the Floo Network to get to his destination. He really could not wait until he learned how to apperate because he hated arriving by the Floo Network. The gut wrenching feeling it created along with the layer of dust that formed on your clothes were less then desirable. Having arrived in a shop down the street from the Three Broomsticks Masen made his way to go and meet his friends. Entering the pub, he automatically spotted one of his buddies and nodded in his general direction. His buddy was already invested in a conversation with a female so he wasn't going to bother him. Allowing his eyes to sweep the pub he noted that all of his friends had already from their perspective company for the night and he chuckled to himself. It didn't take long for him to set his sights on his own girl and within moments he was lost in conversation with her. Her name already forgotten, his arm around her waist, holding her nice and close to his side.
Cringing at the singer who was up on the stage, sounding as though he was murdering a bunch of cats. Masen normally avoided places with Open Mic nights for just this reason. He had been leaning in to whisper something to his female companion when the announcer had said the one name that he didn't want to hear. Pressing his lips together he dragged his gaze to the stage and sure enough there was none other then Danica Krum. The girl who was single handedly at fault for breaking his heart. His eyes cut to his friends who were all looking from the stage to him with looks of dumbfoundment. Obviously they didn't know she'd be there, let alone singing. As his eyes took in the crowd once again it didn't take him long to spot his ex's friends in the crowd and immediately cursed. The signs were there that she was there but he had missed them, something that didn't usually happen to him. She looked just as beautiful as he remembered, but that thought only made him scowl. As she started singing, Masen could admit that he was shocked. He didn't know she could sing, let alone have a voice like that. Just one other thing he hadn't known about her apparently. When her eyes met his, it felt as though she was singing directly to him, like this song was for him, and it only caused his heart to literally hurt.
Tearing his gaze away he leaned in and whispered in his dates ear, making her giggle and press in against him. It was the exact distraction that usually helped him forget Danica but with her so close it wasn't doing him any good. He was doing everything in his power not to look at the stage, but his eyes kept straying that way. When her eyes met with his again, the words she sang struck him hard almost like a blow to the stomach and he actually felt winded. Running his free hand through his hair he cursed mentally and placed his attention back on the girl he was with. Kissing the girl with all the passion he could muster before slowly pulling away. "why don't you go get us some drinks, i'll be right back." it wasn't a suggestion and Masen was gone before the girl could reply. His feet carried them to their destination without much thought and he found Danica right where he thought he would. "Quite the performance there Krum." Masen truly couldn't keep his voice from sounding cold. Ever since their break up it was just an instant reaction to her. "Now I wonder if the crowd was cheering because you sounded good, or because the men were hoping it would help them score." the smirk on his lips was pure evil. Though in essences he had really just given her a compliment but hid it within an insult. "Seems there were many things I didn't know about you after all." leaning against the wall closest to him, Masen crossed his arms across his chest and regarded the girl in front of him. She still looked good, better then he wanted to admit, and he still had all the urges he use to have where she was concerned. They may have never been intimate but she had been the first of many things for Masen. The last as well, and that was something he needed to remind himself when in her presences. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]you’re haunting me i guess i need you baby. Usually Danica would have not lingered where she knew Masen was if she could help it. If she’d been in her right mind she would have grabbed her stuff and left. But the thrill from being on stage infront of people, and having them actually like her singing made everything else blur in comparison. It left her completely dazed. She almost felt high or drunk right now. The absolute adrenaline rush that she felt was on par with how she felt every time she took off on a broomstick. She’d always liked to sing, had always found joy in music and a sort of peace that was usually absent from her life. But she’d never in a million years think it could give her the same thrill that flying and quiditch did. It was a complete revelation to her. Part of her felt like she belonged on stage now. But the other part of her knew she’d always belong on the pitch. Just one more contradiction in her life. Tipping her head back and closing her eyes Danica sighed in sheer pleasure. But the next second her happy, relaxed mood changed. She kept her eyes closed, and outwardly she didn’t change, but inside her entire body tensed up. She would always recognize the smell of Masen anywhere. It was usually the first thing to tip her off that he was near. It wasn’t just the cologne he wore, it was him. She’d never forget just how he smelt, and it never failed to both excite her and piss her off at the same time. When she’d seen him here tonight it had hit her like a frying pan across the face. The only thing that had kept her going and singing had been sheer will power. When their eyes met it still had the power to make her melt. Especially when she was already singing something so powerfully tied to him. She’d tried her best to ignore the little blond slut that had been wrapped around him. It had been hard though. There was a reason Danica didn’t get along with other females usually. She never had, even as a kid, but when she’d gotten older and guys had become involved and just about every other girl turned into a complete whore it had set it in stone. Danica just could never fathom why so many girls were willing to throw away their dignity for a guy. Sure she understood all those urges and falling for a guy and wanting to impress him, but she’d never let herself drop to the level of a common street walker. That was one thing Danica had always prided herself on.
Keeping her eyes closed as Masen finally spoke Danica took one less breathe before acknowledging him. ”Considering that most of the men out there are your friends who already found their whores for the night I will take the compliment in that Dolohov.” she replied opening her eyes but not moving from her position against the wall. It always stung her slightly to hear the coldness in his voice, but it also got her temper rising. Her tone always matched his for coldness, but tonight it wasn’t to the same extent. She was just too happy still from singing on that stage. She wasn’t going to let Masen steal this happiness from her, like he had so much else. ”Ya well that would make two of us.” she replied with a bite to her tone as her eyes flashed towards him. Taking a breathe she tried to keep her head. The last thing she needed was to start an all out brawl with Masen in the Three Broomsticks after they’d just given her such a shot.
Pushing off the wall she moved over to wear her stuff was. Pulling the vest she had on off she dropped it in her bag and grabbed a few pins to start putting her hair up in a messy updo. Now that Masen was here she knew she couldn’t just leave like the plan had been. She had to stay, it was a matter of pride and showing she wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of driving her from somewhere. ”Where’d your ... friend go? You might not want to leave her alone long, she might get lost walking to the table.” she asked him, her disdain for the girl and him creeping into her voice. Danica actually knew the girl, not like well or anything, but she knew she was a special type of stupid. Not that Masen probably cared, if anything that probably was a bonus in his mind. Finishing with her hair she turned back to him, her eyes full of disdain and dissapointment. Danica had always had trouble keeping her emotions from her eyes. And she had tried, especially where Masen was concerned. But he knew her too well. He’d always been able to read her so she didn’t bother hiding it anymore. All she did was use her anger to hide her pain. It was what Danica did best. Grabbing a bottle of Firewhiskey off of the table Danica poured it into a cup and drank some. The burn helped to clear her head and calm her hands that were shaking ever so slightly.
The sight of Masen always threw her a bit, but he looked so good leaning against the wall that she needed to focus on something else. He’d always been good looking, and that smirk had usually made her heart rate speed up. Taking a small breathe she took another sip and reminded herself that this was the guy who had believed that she could cheat on him. She’d thought he knew her so well, but anyone that knew Danica knew she was no cheater. Almost getting assaulted by some drunk, paid off idiot apparently looked like a mutual kiss to Masen. Throwing back the last of the whiskey in her cup she poured some more to calm her anger. ”I’d offer you some, Dolohov, but judging by the quality of what you’ve had your lips on a shot of penicilan might be better.” she told him cooly, an equally evil smirk playing off her lips as her eyes glittered. Her accent heavy on his name. Just the name Dolohov reminded her of the fact it was his bloody parents who had paid the guy to assault her and break them up. Setting the glass down she picked up her guitar and started putting it away. The feel of the wood and strings beneath her hands helped to instantly calm her. It never failed to do that. This guitar and her broom were her two most precious posessions. She knew that if anyone ever messed with either of them she would kill them, straight out kill them.

s h o u ld i g i v e u p o r s h o u l d i just keep chasing pavements even though it
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g79/Juliart/background_black.jpg');,true][cs=2] L E A D S T O N O W H E R E | [atrb=width,240]Running into Danica tonight was not something Masen was prepared for. Not one bit. He had been planning on having a good time tonight. Finding a distraction that would get his mind off the girl in front of him and now, now any chance he had of that was long gone. Just seeing her made him feel as though he had been punched in the gut, like all the air had been taken from his lungs. She was still incredibly beautiful and that was one thing that never went unnoticed by him. In one sweep of his eyes he could take every inch of her in and remember each and every spot that use to make her curl into him or press ever so slightly into his arms. Those used to be the moments that he adored and now as much as he wanted to have her back in his arms, he knew it would never happen. The damage between them was done and every day Masen would tell himself it was better this way. If what she said was true about his parents, then it was better that it happened before things had gotten even more serious between them. Before he had dropped that L bomb, which he had been mighty close to doing. The girl before him had been his everything and now he had to go on every day acting as though she was his nothing. It wasn't easy, and normally he was more prepared but tonight he wasn't sure how things were going to end up. Even with all the training he had been through, Danica Krum was the only girl on the face of the planet that could make him forget it all. "Whores? That's rich." He smirked and shook his head slightly amused. "Just because their attention is occupied with a certain girl at the moment doesn't mean that they weren't interested in scoring with you. Especially my friends, given they actually know how things ended with us." moving his hand between them to signify that he was talking about them. Even though that one single word caused a great deal of pain to curse through his entire body. Every day he had to remind himself that there was no them anymore, never would be and she was better off.
"Hardly." Masen scoffed, slipping his hands down into his pockets. "What exactly didn't you know about me Danica?" it was rare for Masen to use her first name now a days but there wasn't a thing she hadn't known about him. Where as it seemed every time he was turning around he was learning something new about her. Given that they were friends first, each new thing he learned about her threw him for a bit of a loop and only further pissed him off. He had thought they had told each other much more about themselves but apparently not. Apparently he had been an open book and she had secrets. Watching as she pushed herself off the wall she was against, his eyes took a moment to trail down over her. Big mistake really but at least he had done it desecretly while her back was to him. She looked good, too good and it only made him miss her that much more. His eyes came back up to watch what her hands were doing and he smiled slightly to himself. He had always enjoyed playing with her hair and helping her take it out. Most of the time they'd wind up snogging before her hair was completely down but that was honestly the best part. Pushing himself off the wall as she was almost done, he reached up for a piece of hair she had forgotten. "Missed a piece." His voice was soft, filled with too many emotions to name. His fingers mere inches from her warm skin that he was just itching to touch. It was probably one of many mistakes he was going to make that night but he couldn't stop what was already done. Releasing the piece of hair as she placed it up with the others, his fingers skimmed against her skin almost as though he wasn't touching her at all. Though he didn't miss the heat that shot up through his finger tips and he immediately dropped his hands back down to his side. Rubbing his fingers together as though he had burned them. Dragging his gaze away from her for a moment to get himself back together.
Smirking at her question, he would almost think she was jealous if he didn't know better. "Vernoica? or was it Victoria? or maybe Melaine? Whatever. She went to get drinks and trust me, she'll find her way back just fine." though Masen doubted his own statement. The girl was already nearly drunk out of her mind and not all of that smart to begin with. Of course after breaking up with Danica, he had changed his entire choice of girls he didn't have much of a choice. Any brunette he had tried to hook up with only reminded him of her, which was counter productive. He hadn't missed the tone of her voice or the emotions that were written in her eyes. That was one thing that had never changed about her and Masen hoped it never did. He could always tell how things were going to go, by the emotions in her eyes. "Why do you care?" Masen asked, watching her carefully. He may be able to tell what she is feeling but what worried him was usually what she was going to do about it. She always seemed to keep him on his toes because she wasn't very perdictable like other females. He eyed the bottle of Firewhiskey that she grabbed, giving her a bit of a curious glance. She wasn't much of a drinker unless she was with friends and he knew she hardly counted him as a friend anymore.
He actually had to hid a laugh at her joke, even if it was at his expense it was quite clever. "I'm not much a drinker anyways." which was the honest to goodness truth. Masen didn't need to drink to have a good time and he preferred knowing what was going on around him. He had gotten drunk once, the night after he and Danica had broken up and the only thing he remembered was the fact that he hated the feeling. Sure he would enjoy a leisure drink now and again but other then that he stayed away from the stuff. The only one that had control over him was himself and alcohol made you loose all kinds of control. "Though I am pretty sure Firewhiskey would take care of much more then any kind of muggle drug. That stuff is rough." it had been what he had started drinking that night. It was usually his drink of choice when he wanted a drink, because of the burn, but that was neither here or alone. "Seeing you drink alone though, thats definitely a good image to give your ex." leaning back against the wall once again, his hands in his pockets with his eyes never coming off of her. Even if he wanted to look away he couldn't, she always managed to capture his full attention whether he liked it or not. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]you’re haunting me i guess i need you baby. Just the one hand gesture of Masen’s to indicate the two of them when he said ‘us’ was enough to make Danica feel like she’d been stabbed in the heart. The casual way he seemed to brush of that connection just served to remind her that so far as he was concerned there was nothing of worth there. The mere fact he STILL hadn’t figured out that she was not at fault for all of this was enough to have her both wanting to double over in pain and punch a wall in anger. She was not the type of girl to ever cheat, not even in school. She’d once gotten a better grade then she should have and she’d gone to the professor to point it out. The professor had admitted that she was right he had put the wrong grade on her’s, but he had left the grade to commend her for her honesty. The one thing the sorting hat had pointed out as major points for putting her into Gryffindor was her unyielding loyalty. Even with Masen, someone who had hurt her beyond words, she was still loyal in her way. Her friends tried to bash him in front of her, thinking it would help, and she couldn’t help but defend him. It angered her that she did it, but it wasn’t something she could stop. Atleast when he wasn’t around to hear it. ”Well if you’re friends knew anything they’d know they’d have no chance.” she spit out at him. The intended dig about her being the kind of girl that would do that had stung more then she liked to admit. Part of her kept trying to repeat what her mother had told her, that she was better off without him. Neither of Danica’s parents had been too thrilled about the fact that she was dating a Dolohov. But they’d told her they just wanted her to be happy. They were worried she’d get hurt. And when she showed up on their doorstep in the pouring rain crying after Masen had ended things, her mother had wrapped her in blankets and hugged her and told her she was better off. Elena Krum said she had known Masen would hurt Danica, and now she knew he wasn’t good enough for her daughter. Danica had tried to listen to her mom, tried to believe what she said. But she just couldn’t. Even after everything, after all the ways Masen continued to show he wasn’t the man she thought he was, she still couldn’t get rid of the picture in her head of the guy he was with her. The guy he used to be with her. No one would ever have thought he wasn’t good for her if they’d seen him then. And that was the picture she woke up every morning trying to get out of her head. But it was hard.
It was even harder in the rare moments he actually used her first name. The mere sounds of him saying her name almost caused her to sigh. Keeping control of herself she looked over at him. He still looked as amazing as ever, better even maybe. Looking at him she couldn’t quite keep the sadness out of her eyes, ”more then you could ever understand Masen.” she replied quietly. There were so many ways he seemed to be changing right before her eyes. And it wasn’t just the way he treated or interacted with her. It was all the little ways he seemed to be shutting himself off to everything. Even before they were together, he’d never been the guy to go after any thing in a short skirt that moved. And even the girls she’d known he’d flirted with were atleast inteligent. But it wasn’t that. It was the cold aura she always felt around him, even when he didn’t know she was around. It scared her a bit. She didn’t know if it was all because of what happened between them, but it hurt to think that it could have all been avoided if he’d only believed her. As her back was to him she could feel his gaze on her. Sure she didn’t know how he was looking at her, but she could feel the heat of his eyes. It had always been something she could pick up on, they could be in a crowded room and she’d still feel when his eyes were on her. Watching in the mirror as he moved toward her she swallowed slightly. As he lifted the piece of hair in question she met his eyes in the mirror and reached for it, and as she did her hand touched his and it was like a million waves of pain and ache and longing rushed over her at once. The emotion she could hear in his softly spoken words almost brought the tears that had sprung to her eyes falling down. Keeping them at bay she closed her eyes as his fingers softly brushed over her skin. She couldn’t stop the shiver this time and it brought a heat and longing to the surface that she had fought to keep down for so long. It wasn’t the first time she’d felt these feelings around him, but it was probably the first time he’d touched her at all since the breakup. Opening her eyes she bit her lip slightly to keep the tears in check, but she couldn’t hide the pain in her eyes.
It was replaced momentarily by a flash of anger as he tried thinking of the girls name, and when he asked why she cared she had to clear her throat. ”Oh I don’t.. care that is. Just concerned the poor thing will find herself in a corner of the bar and not know how she got there.” she said trying to sound as aloof and condescending as she could as she finished putting her hair up. Turning her head side to side to study it she cocked it to the right side, as was her habbit when doing her hair or makeup. Satisfied she turned to him in time to notice what she thought was him hiding a laugh at her joke. Grinning her customary mischeviouse grin she took another sip. Nodding she regarded the glass in her hand, ”it is sort of rough I guess, but it takes the edge off.” she told him finishing the glass and pouring another. To this one she actually added some soda to lesson it a bit. She might need a drink at the moment, to calm her nerves after the almost intimate moment that had just happened, but she didn’t want to get wasted in front of Masen. If she did, who knew what she might say or do. She’d never been drunk around him yet and she’d done enough stupid things, like get in a fight with a chick he was with. That had not been her fault though, the bitch had called her dirty mudblood skank.. she’d deserved it. ”Well you seem to have your opinion of me figured out regardless of what I do, so what’s the difference?” she answered him. Grabbing another glass and pouring some in it she walked over and handed it to him, keeping her hand on the glass as he grabbed it and leaning in close, ”but if you’re that concerned then by all means, join me for one.” she told him in a low, almost seductive voice. Turning she sat down on the couch in the room and crossed her legs before taking another sip.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g79/Juliart/background_black.jpg');,true][cs=2] L E A D S T O N O W H E R E | [atrb=width,240]Standing there before Danica, was literally like torture for Masen. He could tell when she was hurting, hell he could tell when she was feeling practically any kind of emotion. All he wanted to do was take her into his arms and make her feel better. He wanted to tell her what an amazing job she did and how proud of her he was. Of course it hurt that this was something he hadn't known about her, but he could chalk that up to her just not being ready to tell him. No matter how much time had passed, his feelings for her hadn't changed, he was just that good at pretending like they had. With the worry of what could really happen to Danica if his parents really knew what his feelings for her really were, Masen had made sure his performance was that good. The mere fact that some kind had forced himself on her at his parents doing scared the hell out of him. Yes he believed her and it killed him that he had to act this way, but his hands were tied. "That's a matter of opinion I suppose." he stated. He knew he could have said something much worse and he knew he should have but at this point he just couldn't bring himself too. Running his hand through his hair, he really didn't know what he was going to do. It was getting harder and harder to keep up with this act with Danica at least. Though part of him was sure that even if he told her he believed her she wouldn't forgive him. Not that he could blame her really, he had been quite the pratt since they broke up but he had to be convincing didn't he?
His reaction to her saying there were things she didn't know about him was sincere though. He had been truthful with her about everything, never lied to her. "you knew everything about me. so tell me, what is it that you claim you didn't know?" he snapped, the anger he felt flaring in his eyes. "you knew who I was, and what I was capable of before we started dating. so don't claim to be so shocked of who I am now. Does it honestly surprise you that my faith in relationships is destroyed?" he asked a bit harshly as he raised his eyebrow at her. There was only one girl for him and Masen knew this. That girl was standing right before him, so why would he bother with any other relationships now that he didn't have her? He wouldn't. To him relationships were now just a waste of time and he figured he might as well just live up to what his family wanted him to be. The more spotlight he had on him meant the less his parents were focusing on Danica and that was good in his books. "In case you didn't notice, you were the only person in my life that I felt I could trust and look how well that turned out for me." it honestly hurt to throw these things at her but what more could he do.
Masen didn't miss the pain in Danica's eyes as she looked through the mirror at him. How could it when it was shinning so brightly in her eyes. The heat from their simple touches still lingered in his body, and it would be so easy for him to act on it but he with held. He had too. Rubbing his thumb over the tips of his fingers, seeming as though he could still feel the softness of her flesh. "You always were a horrible liar Danica." Masen didn't even realize he was using her first name rather then her last. It had always been like second nature to him, and calling her Krum felt so foreign. "If you don't care then it really shouldn't be your concern if she winds up in a corner or back here." he smirked and shrugged his free shoulder casually. "Besides, does it really seemed like I am concerned? Even if she does get lost, she isn't the only girl out there that wants to be with me." the confidence he felt shined through to his voice, but it was hardly a confidence he felt. The only girl he wanted to want him was back in that room with him and there was nothing he could do about it. "So don't fret, if I wanted to be out there I would be." Masen wasn't really sure she'd pick up on what he just said, basically admitting he was right where he wanted to be.
"And just what edge do you need to take off so badly?" he questioned, even though it was hardly his business. Though he wouldn't be surprised if it was about him. Watching her intently as she continued to drink, though this time adding soda. At least she wasn't drinking it straight, though he was a bit curious to see what she was like drunk. It was something he hadn't seen before and it could possibly be quite amusing. "If you don't drink that stuff often you may want to slow down, unless of course your trying to get drunk?" Masen questioned, with a slight amusing smile on his lips. Keeping his eyes on her wasn't exactly hard for Masen, it was like breathing to him. He picked up on just about anything she did, whether she knew he did or not. He had sensed the rate of her heart when he had been within touching distances of her. He had known she was just as flustered as he had been by the encounter. That had been the closest they had been in months, and just that single touch was hardly enough but he'd have to make it work. Taking his eyes from her he looked around where they were noting that it was just a small room off the back of the stage. Taking a step further in he shut the door, blocking out the noise behind them. If Danica was going to get drunk, he was going to make sure he was the only one to see it.
Turning back around just as she poured him a drink, he took the glass and swallowed hard at her behaviour. Perhaps shutting them into a room wasn't the best idea, but he'd deal with whatever came his way. "Since when did you start giving up?" he asked her, taking the glass from her. Making sure each of his fingers came into contact with hers, his eyes taking in her reaction from their contact once again. As she turned around and sat down he set the glass down, his eyes skimming up her legs as she crossed them. "I think its best at least one of us remains sober." both of them getting drunk would be dangerous and could have explosive results. Stepping towards her he took up a seat on the couch at the opposite end. When they had broken up everyone had been shocked to learn that Danica had cheated on him. They were so sure it would have been the other way around. Though they kept the specifics of their relationship to themselves, in the public eye things always looked hot and heavy between them. Though that was the one aspect of things that made Masen believe Danica. He knew she wasn't the type to sleep around, she valued that aspect of her life. Didn't think being a virgin was a bad thing and he admired her for that, which was why he never pushed her. That didn't mean he didn't want her, hell he still did to this very day. "Its best for the both of us if I walk out of her sober, or that clean image you try to uphold would be destroyed." placing his arm on the back of the couch, his fingers mere inches from her shoulder. He resisted the urge to reach out and touch her again, but it was hard. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]you’re haunting me i guess i need you baby. There was a rather large part of Danica’s brain that was screaming at her to get the hell out of this room. Get away from Masen. Being this close to him for this long was fraying the remaining threads of her self control. And her sanity. Having to constantly try and bury the pain and anger and other feelings where he couldn’t see them felt like she was going insane. She knew it really wasn’t any use to hide how she felt around him, he’d be able to read her like a book no matter what. But she could hide the depth of her emotions. Sometimes it truly scared her just how deep the hurt and anger went. She’d actually gone to a shrink after she’d gotten into that fight with the girl who’d called her a mudblood. She hadn’t been given a choice. And the shrink had somehow broken through all the walls she usually put up around herself. In the couple sessions she’d had with him it had really made her realize just how much she still loved the man in front of her, and how badly he had hurt her. The shrink had even been shocked, of course she’d never told him who her ex was, but he couldn’t believe that one little person could hold in the sheer ammount of emotions she did and not act on them. That was one thing Danica was able to do, she could hold in her emotions and not act on them usually. Ocassionaly they did spill out, but not often. Moments like these though were when it got harder. It was so hard for her not to act on one or all of the emotions warring inside of her as she looked at Masen. She knew he could read her like a book, but she couldn’t understand how he kept up with how quickly they seemed to change and switch. She wanted to slap him and kiss him all at once. Looking at him she couldn’t help but love him, and everything would come back and she’d hate him. But even in the moments where she wanted nothing more then to curse him she still loved him. It was always there in the background. And it killed her that he so obviously didn’t feel the same anymore. Part of her knew he was way better at hiding his feelings then she was, she’d never been able to read him like he could her. She’d just assumed it had something to do with all the training he’d gone through as a kid. But he’d never needed to hide anything from her before. Now she had no idea what he really felt, all she could go off of was his actions. And the few brief moments when he couldn’t quite hide his emotions. They always came out in his voice, even if his eyes didn’t change his voice could betray him. She knew it so well that the slightest change would tip her off. Not that it happened much.
”I suppose it is.” she replied cooly. She could tell there was more going on in his mind then his words were letting on. He wasn’t as cruel as he usually was, and that had her guard up. When he ran his hand through his hair Danica raised an eyebrow, if she didn’t know better she’d think he was having as much trouble with this as she was. He’d always ran his hands through his hair if he was feeling conflicted or confused. It was one of the few tells he did have. As he snapped out his next comment she knew he definitely wasn’t acting. He almost seemed hurt, so much so that he either couldn’t hide it or wouldn’t. The thing she couldn’t understand is how he could honestly think he hadn’t changed. She had known everything about him, she’d thought. But the man she’d known could never have hurt her as bad as he did and continued to do. ”You can honestly talk about trust to me? You throw that word around yet when it really came to it you had zero trust in me. You should know I would never, could never, be anything but loyal to the core. Could NEVER cheat! The guy I thought you were would have known that. And the guy I fell in love with would have never hurt me as bad as you did and keep doing!” she threw back at him her anger and pain almost exploding from her as she faced him, ”That’s what I didn’t know Masen; how far you would go to continually break my heart.” she finished with all the heat leaving the words as it was replaced by only pain. She slumped her shoulders, almost as if she was shielding herself from the onslaught she knew would be coming. She wished she hadn’t let her anger get the best of her, but she knew better then to wish she could hold in her temper. She just wished she hadn’t basically told him she’d been in love with him, and not put it in the past tense either. She knew he wouldn’t miss that. Now the only thing she didn’t know was how he would react. And it scared her.
Trying and failing to glare at him through the mirror Danica couldn’t help but let an almost wistful smile cross her lips, ”doesn’t mean I can’t try.” She replied. She hadn’t missed how he rubbed his thumb over her fingers, it intrigued her. She couldn’t understand why he would do it. It took a supreme act of will power to stop herself from reaching up to the spot those fingers had touched. Her eyes flashed when he mentioned other girls wanting him. She knew it was true, it had always been true. Even when they were together there’d always been girls trying to get his attention, but it had never bothered her. She’d had absolutely no worries when it came to him and other girls, which had shocked most people who thought she was being naive. She’d just known he would never cheat on her. Back then she’d thought she’d known for a fact that he would never hurt her. ”So am I to understand you want to be back here right now Masen?” she asked him casually. Or as casually as she could. She hadn’t missed the way he’d said if he wanted to be out there he would be. It intrigued her a bit. Much of this conversation was intriguing to her. It wasn’t how it usually was with them now. Sure it was still pretty heated and they were both clearly upset, but it didn’t have the almost cruel nature most of their conversations took on. Usually by now one of them had stormed out. Swallowing as he asked what edge she needed to take off Danica took another sip to give herself time to think of a good answer. ”You seem to know me so well, what do you think?” she asked him sarcastically, ”and I haven’t decided yet.” she finished answering his question about getting drunk. She actually didn’t know yet if she would, or if it was a wise idea.
Watching as he closed the door Danica could feel panic rising in her. Her emotions were already so frayed she didn’t know if she could be in an enclosed room with Masen right now. She honestly didn’t think it was wise. But there was no way she would admit that to him. ”Since nothing I do seems to have any affect.” she told him as he took the glass from her. Keeping her hand on the glass as his fingers came into contact with her own she didn’t move for a long moment. Keeping her breathing even and her body close to his she stared into his eyes to see what would happen next. She was having an extremely hard time stopping herself from just closing that gap and kissing him. Part of her wondered what would happen if she did. Would he push her away? Would he kiss her back? And even if he did, what would it mean? She hadn’t missed how he’d swallowed when she’d given him the glass. There was no disguising the usual pain and anger that always seemed to be in her eyes around him, but the longing and desire that had sprung up with his touch was something she was trying to hide. She didn’t need to give him anymore weapons to use against her. Feeling like her hand was on fire from his touch was enough, and the slight tremor that seemed to run through her body was worse. Pulling away slowly she used walking to the couch with her back to him to take a few breathes. Gritting her teeth right before she sat she forced her face to be neutral as possible.
Seeing his eyes skim up her legs she secretly thanked Merlin she had worn the cut off shorts. ”Suit yourself.” she told him when he refused a drink. As he sat on the couch she forced her body to remian still. Even though part of her wanted to slap him for the insinuation that people would think something had happened if they were both drunk. ”Unlike you most people know I’m not that kind of girl so I think I’m safe, thanks.” she told him with a bit of a sarcastic edge to the thank you. She had to wonder why he’d care about protecting her image. If anything it would help his cause if people thought she wasn’t as innocent as they did. It would mean people might actually believe that she would cheat on him. From everything she’d heard pretty much everyone believed her side of the story. Everyone except the one person she so desperately wanted to. Part of her had sometimes wondered what she’d do if she found out Masen actually did believe her, or had somehow realized she was telling the truth. And she honestly couldn’t answer that question. Part of her wanted to believe it wouldn’t make any difference aside from giving her closure. That part wanted to believe that after everything he’d put her through she would never stoop to taking him back. But then there was the part that was burning from the brief touch of his fingers, even burning right now from how close they were at this very second. She knew her heart hadn’t stopped racing since that first touch and she knew it wouldn’t stop till long after she finally was safe at home away from him. That part told her if she got the chance she’d jump at the chance to have him back as it used to be. The biggest part of all of this was the simple fact she missed him. This was the first time she’d had something similar to the real him back and it made the ache of loosing him hurt all the more. Turning her eyes to him she tried to calm herself, ”So what did you think of the show?” she asked him. She couldn’t help her curiosity, but what she really wanted to know was what his answer would be, and more what his reaction to it would be.

s h o u ld i g i v e u p o r s h o u l d i just keep chasing pavements even though it
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-image: url('http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g79/Juliart/background_black.jpg');,true][cs=2] L E A D S T O N O W H E R E | [atrb=width,240]There were times in Masen life over the past few months, that he wondered just how much longer he could keep up with the charade that his life currently was. It really wasn't like him to be someone he wasn't and it bothered him that it had come down to this. All because his parents had to get involved in his life, though Masen knew good and well it was all his father's doing. His mother would simply just support her husband and say nothing, no matter the affect it had on her children. He honestly hated how much his life had changed, and what was worse was that his father was actually proud of him as of late. Something that Masen had wanted all of his life but only got when he lost the one person that mattered the most to him. Though his father's approval hardly meant anything to him anymore and hadn't for quite some time really. It just disgusted him to see his father be so full of pride for making his own sons life fall apart. The only reason he acted the way he did was to protect Danica, something he was quite sure she'd wish to kick his arse for. Though Masen knew he had enough training and could take on his father if it came down to that, he was worried for Danica. It wasn't as though they were together all the time, so therefore she'd be a sitting target the moment Masen left her side. There was no way she would be capable of defending herself against his father, no matter how strong Masen knew her to be she wasn't equipped to handle what the Dolohov's were best at and that was what scared Masen the most. Nothing about running into her tonight was how it usually went and he couldn't explain it for the life of him. He knew he should be cruel, part of him wanted to be cruel but the larger part of him was just plain tired of fighting with her. Especially when he could see just how much damage he was doing and had already done. "Zero trust in you? That's rich Danica. If I didn't have any trust in you do you really think I would have been okay with you going out with your friends? Or better yet, do you honestly think if I didn't trust you that we would have been together in the first place? Stop throwing the innocent card around, its getting tiring." he snapped, rolling his eyes at her.
"You act like your the only one who got hurt in this entire mess. New flash sweetheart, you're the one that cheated on me not the other way around. Which is surprising because everyone expected it to be me but instead I was the only that remained faithful to you." even he could hear the anger in his voice and almost scared himself for fear he sounded like his father. Running his hand through his hair once again he rested his head against the back of the couch and sighed rather heavily. "I want you to put yourself in my shoes, for just a minute. Rather mistakenly we wind up at the same club, you come sauntering in and see some girl all over me. Her hands in areas they should hardly be and her mouth working rather feverishly at mine. That's all you see. How understanding would you be?" opening his eyes back up he peered over at her. "You wouldn't be and don't give me some bull about trusting me either. You would have saw red and that's that. Hell, you don't even like it now when you see me with other girls Danica and we are broken up for merlin's sake." Masen shook his head and looked away from her down to the ground. "Doesn't matter if you want to believe the person or not, doesn't matter what your heart tells you. Every time you look at that person, that is all your going to see. Your entire world coming crashing down, doesn't matter the reason behind it, that image never leaves your mind." his voice sounded almost defeated, as his shoulders sagged his heart felt as though it was breaking all over again. Each word he spoke was the truth. Masen believed everything Danica told him, but no matter what that image was always present in his mind. "The only reason people believe your side of the story is because they can't fathom for one minute why you'd cheat on me. I'm not saying that to be pompous or egotistical its the truth. So go ahead and continue to play the poor broken hearted one Danica, but you aren't the one who has to live with that damn image every single day for the rest of your life. You aren't the only one who was heart broken that night." Masen looked back up at Danica, the pain and anger he felt reflected in his eyes but his tone was strictly icy cold. He really did hate to get into this topic of conversation with her, but it came up quite frequently.
"You may say you would never cheat, but alcohol changes a person. It clouds their judgement and it doesn't take a professor to realize that you not only can't hold your alcohol but your are a bit more free with your actions when you drinking." He stated, case in point that she had flirted with him once already since she started drinking. It had taken all his will power not to melt at her seductive tone when she had offered him that drink but he had some how managed to hold it all together. That only proved the point he was trying to make. She wasn't herself when she was drinking. It was rather odd how Masen was giving Danica all the tell tale signs that he believed her, at least it was odd to him. She had yet to make any kind of remark on them so she was either missing them completely or didn't know quite what to make out of how he was acting. "You can try yes I suppose, but why when it will get you no where?" he asked, regarding her lying. The mere fact that he told her she was a horrible liar was the biggest sign Masen could have given her that he believed her. The mere fact that she had never been able to lie to him in the past, should have told her right away that he knew she wasn't lying to him then. "And if that is what I'm saying?" He asked, raising his eyebrow at her as his eyes gazed into hers. Moving his hand off the back of the couch to her shoulder he smirked at her question, actually laughing slightly. "Its probably a mix of several things. One, the fact that we are alone back here. It puts you on edge because you don't know what is going to happen and you hate that. Two, the mere fact that I am guessing that was your first time performing in front of a crowd, and though they applauded you have no idea how it actually went." just because they were no longer dating didn't mean he didn't know her inside and out. Nevermind that her pulse hadn't stopped beating like crazy at the base of her neck since he approached her, that was a dead give away. Trailing his fingers lightly down her arm as he spoke before casually moving his hand back to the back of the couch, as though he hadn't just caressed her. Doing his best to ignore the tingles that were shooting up his fingers.
He honestly could have laughed out loud at her words. She couldn't really believe nothing she did had an effect on him. Merlin, she really had no idea how wrong she was. "So you just give up?" he asked, a bit of a tsking sound to his voice. "Maybe the things you do have an affect but its just easier to pretend they don't." Masen told her in a soft tone, his voice just above a whisper. He could literally feel his heart racing within his chest by the simple fact of how close she was to him and the mere fact that their fingers had been touching. His eyes never left hers, but he could tell she wasn't as calm as she was pretending to be. Her breath may be calm but her pulse was racing and her eyes had dilated, which practically made the cave man in him want to come out. As much as he wanted to pound his fists against his chest and throw her over his shoulder, what he really wanted to do was close the gap between them and kiss her. However, he knew that would be a huge mistake he couldn't take back because once he started kissing her he was sure he wouldn't be able to stop. Mentally shaking his head as she mentioned that people knew she was innocent he smirked at her. An actual full fledge naughty down to the core smirk. "Wouldn't matter Danica. Your reputation would be destroyed if people seen us leaving here, whether it be together or separately. They know my reputation and our history, I am sure you'd become the talk of the town, again." he shrugged, since it would really be that easy. That was not his motive though, he just wanted their moment to be private. Merlin only knew who was actually out there that his father knew, watching what he did.
Turning his gaze from her, he actually eyed the drink that he had put on the table beside him. Part of him really wanted to take a drink, just to ease the tension inside his body. The larger part of him refused to let him give into that urge though. Drinking would cause him to do something stupid, like kiss Danica. Instead, he rose from the couch and grabbed himself a Butterbeer. Sure it had some alcohol content but not as much as Firewhiskey so he was quite safe. "The show was fairly decent. Some of the performs couldn't quite hit a not to save their lives." Masen commented, after taking a swig of his drink. Moving so he was standing in front of her he slid his free hand into the pocket of his jeans. "Though I am thinking you want to know what I thought of your performance?" he asked, raising his eyebrow at her. "Can't say I understand why you kept that hidden from me. The song was a bit intense, my guess it was more about us then you'll admit." he wasn't going to lie to her and tell her she was horrible. He could be cruel but that was uncalled for where Danica was concerned. He could only imagine what it took for her to get out there and he wasn't about to set her back with some snide remarks. | [atrb=width,100] words ,

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 363636; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]you’re haunting me i guess i need you baby. Hearing the anger in Masen’s voice Danica actually shrank back slightly. She’d only met his father once, and she’d never thought Masen looked or was anything like the man, but at this second... well she could see some of the family resemblance. It honestly frightened her. It took her a second to even hear the words he was saying with all that anger. And then it was her turn to get angry. The fact he still kept throwing the fact she;d ‘cheated’ on him in her face was just such a piss off to her she could barely control it. She found herslef straightening up and her mouth opening on a rather nasty retort. But Masen kept on talking. And his next words were like a bucket of cold water being thrown in her face. Hearing the complete defeat and pain in his voice made Danica almost feel ashamed for causing this. Even though she knew it was complete bull that she feel that way, as none of this had been her fault. All she wanted to do was reach over and hold him. Just grab him, and hug him untill he stopped looking like his world was ending. Which if she believed what he said, it did every time he looked at her. Danica came out of her thoughts just in time to catch herself as her hand was reaching out to run down his back to comfort him. Her hand was just mere inches from touching him. Pulling it back quickly she tried to pass it off by brushing her hair back from her face. ”I may not have been in your shoes. But did you ever for a second try to put yourself in mine?” she asked him quietly. ”It may be hard to picture yourself as a small girl, but try. Try thinking about being out with your friends, genuinely having a good time though you wished above anything your boyfriend would walk in so you could see him. You’re a little drunk maybe, but you’re fully in control of yourself. All of a sudden some large, drunk, horrible smelling guy comes up and grabs you. You try pushing him off, but you can’t. No matter how much you fight he just pushes you back into a corner and holds onto you tighter. You’re arm feels like it’s going to break, and then he starts grabbing you, and forcing his mouth on you, and you’re terrified he’ll do worse. But no matter what, no matter how much you fight and try to scream you can’t get away. And then finally you see your boyfriend, and you think you’re saved. Only for him to turn around and walk away.” she told him, her eyes never leaving the floor, her voice low and almost dead sounding it was lacking emotion. On the last words her voice broke and she had to stop to clear her throat and take a breath to stop herself from breaking down. Wrapping her arms around herself, she shrunk into herslef almost as if she was shielding herself from the memories.
”The one person in the world you were silently praying would come save you, be your knight in shining armor, turns his back on you right as you need him most.” Finally Danica drug her gaze back up to Masens. This would be the one time he wouldn’t be able to read her, any time she talked about that night her eyes took on a dead, haunted look to them. ”I’ve never said I didn’t understand where you were coming from. But maybe now you understand part of why I’m so hurt. You might see that every time you look at me, but every time I look at you I see you turning your back on me when I needed you most.” she told him quietly in a dead pan voice.
Turning back away from him she stared at the glass in front of her. She wanted nothing more then to grab the cup and throw it against the wall. Taking a breathe she took a small sip instead. ”I may be a little more free with my actions when I drink, as you put it. But I’m not an idiot. I’m not some stupid, desperate, whore with no self esteem. I have more respect for myself then that, even while drunk.” she snapped out at him. Hearing his words about lying not getting her anywhere it made Danica think. If he so obviously still knew that she could never lie to him, then how could he not believe her about that night? It made no sense. Biting her lip she looked over at him. Was it possible he actually did believe her? If she didn’t have the experience of all of the time that had passed since she would think he did. But the way he’d treated her since he’d ended things she couldn’t be sure. If he’d believed her all this time, or even part of it, and still treated her this horribly then maybe she was better off without him. She couldn’t honestly figure out why he might believe her but fake that he didn’t. ”Well if that’s what you’re saying then by all means stay.” she responded evenly. She wished her heart rate would slow back down. It was getting difficult for her to breath, maybe something to do with the fact they were now closed in together was making her a bit clostrophobic. ”You’re right on both counts. I do hate it. And yes, I have never performed in front of a crowd, or anyone. Not even my family have heard me actually perform.” she told him. She could bet that he was probably a little pissed that she’d never shared her singing with him, that she’d hid it from him. But quite honestly she’d hidden it from everyone. People had heard her sing, she did it almost without knowing she was while doing just about anything. But no one really knew that she could play guitar or piano. She’d taught herself to do both. It was one of the things she was actually pretty proud of.
Catching he breath as his fingers trailed down her arm Danica had to control herself and not just grab him and kiss him. She could have killed him for teasing her like this, but at the same moment she could barely keep herself sitting straight up and not melting on the spot. Raising an eyebrow at him as he returned his hand to the back of the couch Danica wondered if she should comment on the touch. Usually anything like this she’d snap at him to keep his hands to himself or loose them. But nothing about this night was going how it usually did with them. At his soft words she looked straight at him. She knew he wasn’t lieing about that. And the realization that he wasn’t lying made her whole world open up. Maybe it’s easier to pretend they don’t... those words echoed in Danica’s brain as she stared back into Masen’s eyes. Could it be that all of this, everything that had happened since they broke up, was just one big lie? That it was just easier for him to pretend he hated her? She could tell his heart was racing as fast as her own. ”And why would that be easier Masen?” she asked him just as quietly as she softly placed a hand on his arm on the back of the couch. She was genuinely curious. And more then anything she was trying to understand what was going on. So much of her wanted to believe that maybe this had all been some huge lie on his part, maybe some boneheaded idea that he was trying to protect her from his parents by pretending to hate her. She really hoped that wasn’t the case because it would incredibly insulting and it would just make her want to kick his ass from here to Sunday. If he truly thought she was weak enough to not take care of herself then maybe he didn’t know her as well as he thought he did. Sure she’d never had to handle herself against the kind of people his family were, but she knew no matter what she’d always fight till there was nothing left for what she loved. No matter all that had happened between them Danica knew if something happened and Masen’s life was threatened she would not hesitate a single second to go running to help him, to fight to save him if she could. And part of her knew, even though everything that he’d done or said in the last while should tell her differently, that he would do the same. Which was why the idea he was just protecting her wasn’t as proposterouse as it should be.
Swallowing as her mouth went suddenly dry at his smirk Danica slowly replaced her hand in her lap. That was the smirk she knew girls practically threw themselves at his feet because of. It was deadly, and Danica was having a hard time not just throwing herself at him as well. Trying to keep her breathing as steady as possible she shook her head at him. ”Well then, if what you say is true, it’s obviously going to be ruined no matter what. Seeing as you’ve been closed in here with me for quite some time already...” she replied with a smirk of her own to match his. Watching as he eyed the drink he’d set down earlier she wondered if he was feeling the need for a drink. Maybe she was having an effect on him. Well really there was no maybe there, she could tell she was, she just didn’t know fully if it was good or bad. Watching as he walked to grab a butterbeer Danica had to admit his ass looked really good in those jeans. Turning her gaze back to his face as he turned around she didn’t bother trying to hide the fact she’d just checked him out. ”I’ve kept that hidden from everyone Masen. You’ve heard me singing before, I sing along with anything I do. But I just recently started feeling the need to actually play songs.” About the time he broke up with her really. She wanted to tell him that, but she didn’t know if she should. She’d had too many emotions going through her since the breakup that the only way to get them out was to sing, and to write songs about it. ”It was the only song that seemed to sum up everything I’ve been feeling.” she replied quietly, not meeting his eyes. ”It was everything I’ve wanted to say. There wasn’t another song I knew I could sing as well. I won’t deny what it was about, but I never intended for you to hear it... even if I’d wished you could.” she told him, the last words coming out as more of a whisper. Blinking away tears that had suddenly sprung up again Danica shook her head. Looking back up at Masen she wondered what could possibly be going through his head. With him standing up before her she thought maybe he was planning on leaving. It might be easier if he did, but she knew after that song and everything that had been said it would be almost as hard watching him walk away as when he’d broken up with her.
